About the Lincoln Youth Track Club

Lincoln Youth Track Club is a nonprofit youth athletic organization devoted to promoting Age-Group Track and Field and Age-Group Cross Country. For over 50 years, LYTC has been committed to helping youth who love running and want to participate in track and field/cross country. We are a USA Track & Field Nebraska Association and an AAU-member youth organization.

Lincoln Youth Track Club offers track and cross-country opportunities for boys and girls ages 18 and younger in Lincoln and the surrounding area. Our goal is to help young athletes grow their love of track and field by providing the opportunity for athletes to develop their technique, speed, stamina, and strength, which will lead to improved performance and build their confidence with each practice and meet.

Lincoln Youth Track Club strives to utilize excellent facilities and experienced coaches—most of whom competed at the collegiate level—to provide proper training that will benefit athletes throughout their entire sporting life. We encourage our athletes to try different aspects of track and field to help them find their true passion. We challenge them to do their best at every practice/meet and to compete against themselves to strive for their personal best. We will never discourage athletes from trying something new and we celebrate with them when they succeed. Equally important, the Lincoln Youth Track Club strives to support and build positive self-esteem, confidence, and lifelong friendships among our athletes.

Lincoln Youth Track Club provides opportunities for athletes to compete in  USATF and/or  AAU sanctioned meets on a local, regional, and national level.

Some of our athletes join cross country and/or track and field just for practice and never compete, and some compete just for conditioning. Some athletes take their love of cross country and/or track and field to the next level and sign scholarships to compete at institutions around the country including the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Michigan State, University of South Dakota, University of Nebraska Kearney, and Doane University—just to name a few.

There are many things to know about cross country and/or track and field that are very different from any other club sport. We will do our best to provide every athlete an opportunity to participate in meets; however, if it does not work with your schedule, we do not penalize athletes for not competing at meets. The club knows that athletes and families have other obligations.
