Lincoln Youth Track Club has event specialty coaches in each of the following areas: sprints, hurdles, middle distance, long distance, long/triple jump, high jump, shot/disc, and javelin.
Age Groups
Our athletes range in ages 5–18 and compete in two-year age groups. The athletes compete at the age that they turn in the calendar year of competition. “Track Age” is determined by the age of the child on Dec. 31 of the current year.

Maximum # of Events
Competitors in the 8 & under, 9-10 and 11-12 age divisions may compete in a maximum of three (3) events, including relays.
Competitors in the 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 age divisions may compete in a maximum of four (4) events, including relays.
#Combined events are not included in the event count.
Seasons
Cross Country: This is a competitive opportunity that includes meets. A USATF Youth Individual Membership is required and your athlete must be age verified with the National USATF office. You complete this by uploading your athlete's birth certificate under 'Athlete verification' after creating your USATF Youth Individual Membership. Click HERE for video directions. If your athlete is not age verified they will not be able to participate in the meets.The season starts in the Fall and practices are held at Pioneers Park, off of W. Van Dorn St., in Lincoln, NE. The team will meet at the big cedar treee across the parking lot from the sledding hills unless otherwise posted to registered athletes.
Track and Field Clinic: This is a recreational session that happens only in the month of April. Coaches will focus on creating a strong basic foundation with track drills, plyometrics, isometrics, speed, strength, and endurance training to build an athlete's movement for more advanced events. USATF membership is not required.
Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-7:45 P.M. Practice could end at 8:00 P.M. depending on cool-down and stretching at the end of practice. Registration can be available on our club website starting in March.

The season starts in April and could end in July depending on if athletes qualify and families decide to continue by going to Jr. Olympics. If your athlete is not age verified they will not be able to participate in the meets. Athletes also have the option to purchase AAU Youth Individual Membership. AAU website www.aausports.org to obtain a membership. Click on join AAU/login, click Get a Membership, select Youth Athlete Membership and follow the directions to set up an account and purchase.

Cost
Cross Country: Uniforms are the same as track and field howere there is an additional long sleeved Lincoln Youth Cross Country shirt that is included in the registration fee. This includes meet registration fees.
Track and Field Clinic: $30 and includes a club t-shirt.
Track and Field Season: The cost varies depending on returning or new athletes, participating or not participating in fundraisers, and uniforms. If you select any option with fundraiser then your athlete must participate in club fundraisers. This includes meet registration fees.
Each athlete will need to purchase a USATF Individual Youth Membership for $30 + transaction fee. This allows your athlete to compete at USATF state, regional, and national meets and provides sports-related insurance for your athlete during the season. Go to usatf.org to set up an account and purchase. Our USATF club number is 29-380. AAU Youth Membership is $20 + transaction fee. Our AAU club code is W3D3FT. This must be done before you can complete your registration if you plan to participate in the meets.
What to Wear?
Athletes will need a good pair of running shoes. Please have your athletes dress for practice in warm-ups or sweats, with running shorts and a T-shirt underneath. After the kids stretch, the coaches will decide if they should peel off some layers. Practices may start with comfortable temperatures, then end up changing quickly to cold temperatures. Send proper clothing. Spikes are not mandatory.
Weather Policy
If the club decides to cancel practice because the weather is bad or threatening, the club will update the website and social media accounts by 5:00 p.m. that day. Practice can run in the rain or snow, but you as a family should make your own decision if you want to attend. Attendance is never mandatory in our program.
Helpful Hints
1. Bathrooms at our practice facilities are not always available. Plan on using the portable toilets or plan ahead at home before leaving for practice.
2. Bring a filled water bottle or water jug as drinking fountains can be unreliable.
3. Please take your personal items with you before leaving the track after practice.
4. Lastly, please be realistic about your expectations for your athlete. Encourage your athlete to measure success against him/herself. Everyone can have FUN learning and competing. The club wants to make this a positive experience for everyone!
Communications
During the season, team communication will be through TeamSnap. We will send out emails with important updates, so please make sure your information is entered correctly in the registration. Information for each track & field meet is posted on our website and the association website (http://nebraskausatf.org). You can see the order of events, time schedule, etc. for each track meet.
Sign-up Deadlines
The club calendar of events is put together for the whole season. All registration deadlines are noted on the website CALENDAR. If you miss a deadline for a track meet and find that you are still planning on going to a meet, you will need to pay your own entry fees upon registration.
Financial Assistance
For over 50 years the Lincoln Youth Track Club has provided club registration scholarships to athletes that have financial needs. All applications are confidential.
